Yams with Pecans and Brown Sugar

These are a simple and delicious way to prepare yams. Kids as well as adults will enjoy these.
3 pounds yams or sweet potatoes
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/3 cup nuts, pecans, chopped
Peel yams and cut in half lengthwise. Slice into 1 inch thick slices. Place yams in a large skillet and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium high heat and cook for 5 to 10 minutes until fork tender. Drain water. Place butter, brown sugar and pecans in a microwave safe bowl. Cook for 1 minute on high. Spoon sugar mixture over yams and cook over low heat for about 5 minutes.
